"Alison was recommended by a friend and it was the best recommendation I have ever had! She has helped me conquer my IBS after years of suffering and is now treating me for a neck problem. Alison treats her clients with immense kindness and professionalism and I have no hesitation in recommending her and her 'magic needles'!" January 2014 client testimonial

"Alison has just treated the horrendous pains of post-herpetic neuralgia in my shoulder, chest, arms and hand following a bout of shingles. It is a severely painful nerve disorder. Six weeks later I am virtually pain-free and am now resuming something like a normal life. From the outset the impact of acupuncture was immediate in every session and each week the reduction in pain was quantifiable. Brilliant job Alison; I am deeply indebted to you." July 2018 client testimonial

Traditional Acupuncture originated in China and other eastern cultures where it still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in conjunction with conventional Western medicine.

It helps maintain the body's equilibrium by regulating the flow of 'qi', our body's vital energy, and our body fluids. For a number of reasons qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked which can result in pain or illness or dis-ease.

Treatment is aimed at the root cause of our condition as well as the main symptoms. This helps resolve the problem and enhances our feeling of wellbeing. We may notice other niggling problems resolve as our main health complaint improves.

The needles I practise with are single-use, sterile and disposable.

During diagnosis I build a picture of all aspects of your health - both physical and emotional - in order to identify the signs and symptoms and the cause of the imbalance. A tongue and pulse diagnosis are included. Fine needles, inserted painlessly, are left for between 20 and 30 minutes whilst you rest. Acupuncture is a relaxing experience and leaves us feeling calmer and more energised.

It is a marvellous treatment to improve the immune system and maintain good health. I often use Acupressure Massage in conjunction with Acupuncture or as a treatment in itself.

Dr Tan's Balance Method was developed over the course of 30 years as a 3-step treatment strategy providing precise and effective stimulation of a minimal number of distal points, thereby avoiding aggravation of local areas of pain.
